Action Alert: ask your legislator to support Community Resilience Hubs!

We need your help to support our Community Resilience Hubs. In some places, hubs may be places to cool down during extreme heat, while in others, hubs may provide emergency beds for wildfire evacuations. They offer various essential services before, during, and after natural and climate disasters.

Ask your Legislator here!

We look out for our neighbors when wildfires, extreme heat, and other climate disasters threaten our communities. Investing in this community-backed program will help communities across the state do more to prepare for extreme weather events and withstand the climate crisis. If we act now to continue investing in stronger communities, we will create the resources and connections to make it easier for Oregonians the next time disaster strikes. Stronger communities make the difference between surviving and thriving.

Our new bill, HB 3170, requests an additional $10 million to fund a second round of the Community Resilience Hubs grant program. In 2023, the program received $10 million of one-time funding but could only support 96 of the 700 applicants. The bill also makes a few minor technical fixes, applying lessons learned to improve implementation and adjusting statutes so that the awards can include projects that respond to ongoing climate issues.
