Dr. John M Long is a state extension specialist for Oklahoma in the area of agriculture machinery systems. He received his BS, MS, and Ph.D. in Biological Engineering from the North Carolina State University. Currently, he is an Associate Professor at the Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering, Oklahoma State University. His expertise involves agricultural machinery and equipment such as tractors, sprayers, planters, and harvesting equipment. His research interests mainly include precision agriculture, intelligent machine systems, sprayer technology, drift mitigation, and crop planting equipment and technology. He has developed and taught courses focused on machinery design, mechanical failure analysis, and agricultural electronics. He has experience working with farmers and ranchers through local and regional workshops centered on spraying, planting, and harvesting equipment. He is a member of the American Society for Engineering Education and the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers.
