Make a call to stop this big, ugly bill

The US Senate is preparing to vote on President Trump’s misnamed “Big Beautiful Bill,” a terribly ugly bill, a massive threat to your health, our climate stability, clean energy progress, pristine public lands, and energy affordability.

Our senators in Oregon and Washington are united against this bill—but our fellow western-state senator Lisa Murkowski (AK) is one of a few senators in the majority signaling that they may stand up to their party leadership and vote against the bill. The feedback we have is that calls from folks around the region, given our shared connections, could help. Can you help encourage her?

Call the US Capitol Switchboard: (202) 224-3121 and ask for Lisa Murkowski’s office.

Sample message when you connect to Senator Murkowski’s office (you’ll either get a staff person or the office voicemail):

Hi, my name is ____ and I’m a resident of the Pacific Northwest [and add if relevant add any connection to Alaska] calling to ask Senator Murkowski to vote no on the Big Beautiful Bill. It poses massive threats to public lands, public health, energy affordability, climate stability, and clean energy progress.

We need to do everything we can to defend the Pacific Northwest’s clean energy progress, energy resilience, and our public lands. Please call TODAY to urge Senator Murkowski to vote NO.

This has been a very complicated, confusing and scary time, so I especially want to thank you for taking a few minutes to make a call today. As a region and a country, we can keep making progress even in this challenging moment in the longer arc of history. Your call to Congress now—and all the other ways you choose to show up—helps make a difference.
