To achieve Oregon’s 100% clean energy goals reliably and affordably, we need to address our transmission bottleneck. Through innovative policy solutions, the 2025 legislature can help meet the energy demands of our growing economy without compromising affordability.

One key way for the legislature to make progress this session? Adopt the Grid Enhancing Technologies (GETs) bill (HB 3336) and the Permitting Reform bill (HB 3681A). The GETs bill will expand transmission capacity by requiring utilities to deploy cost-effective, proven technologies that increase efficiency, prevent wildfires, and reduce the need for expensive new infrastructure. The Permitting Reform bill will streamline approvals for critical transmission infrastructure in Oregon. The last major transmission line permitted in Oregon, the Boardman to Hemingway line, secured a permit after a 17-year process. We can’t wait that long for a modern grid that supports our clean energy transition. Both HB 3336 and HB 3681A passed the Oregon House and are awaiting a floor vote in the Senate. Your voice can help ensure that these crucial bills continue to advance.
