We Earthlings: Plant Your Diet For Change

If you make just one change to help prevent climate change, choose adopting a plant-based diet. Even just reduce your meat and dairy consumption to zero one day a week, you’ll be making a positive difference. The production of plant-based foods generally emits fewer greenhouse gases compared to animal-based products. A study from Lund University found that eating a plant-based diet can save approximately 0.8 tons of CO₂ equivalent per year — that’s about 1,760 pounds less of your carbon footprint. The water benefits are immense, accounting for up to 1,800 gallons of water savings per day used to grow the meat and processed foods you consume, or as much as 657,000 gallons a year.
